About Us
The Captain
From the time he was very young, Captain Billy Leidner has loved fishing. He
started fishing for a living in 1985 – when he was 16 years old. His dad
was a blue water fishing charter boat captain and his grandfather fished for hire
too. Ocean City, MD was his home and the offshore fishing there was tremendous.
Having also lived in the Outer Banks, big game fishing out of Oregon Inlet, NC
is another treasure that he cherishes. Billy has been fishing out of south Florida
since 1992, and loves the options that are provided out of the St. Lucie inlet.
Having run many large sport fishing boats for wealthy owners – he prefers
the thrill of being in the action with the people that charter the “One
Call”.
Billy has experience with all types of fishing. Rigging baits is one of his
specialties. Also, knowing when and where to put the live baits out – on
top or on bottom – is a gift that we prize him with. He enjoys using teasers
and “dredges” which is an exciting way to multiply your strikes. Furthermore,
kite fishing, deep dropping, wreck fishing, bottom fishing, chunking, chumming,
jigging, butterfly jigging, using wire line, planers, slow trolling and high speed
trolling are all methods that Billy is experienced with. Ballyhoo’s, lures,
mullet, strips and spoons are all used in his fishing program. Drop backs and
pitch baiting are techniques that he readily teaches his guided anglers.
Our Captain has a 100 ton masters U.S.C.G. license with a STCW (safety) endorsement.
Billy has fished in tournaments from Cape May, NJ to the Bahamas. Tournaments
worth noting are the Mid-Atlantic, the White Marlin Open, the Pirate’s Cove
tournament, the Buccaneer Cup, the HMY Billfish Blast and the Bahamas Billfish
Championship. Always having done well in these competitions, Capt. Billy can gladly
accommodate your crew in your tournament of choice.
Owners
The owners on the “One Call”, Robert and Tammy Ambrosius, reside
in Stuart, FL and bring experience to the charter program that you will not want
to miss. Robert has had a 1600 ton coast guard license and ran a 150 ft. mega-yacht
all over the world for 14 years – fishing all the time. He was running charter
boats since he was in his mid-twenties. Tammy also possesses a 100 ton captains
license.
